Foster

Open your home. Save a life.

Foster homes are the heartbeat of a foster-based rescue and allow HERO to keep saying yes when another hound needs help.

Why foster?

You provide the home. HERO provides the rescue support.

A temporary home gives a rescued dog a place to decompress after shelter life, recover from medical care, learn routines and show their true personality to future adopters.

  • Give a dog a safe place to land
  • Help HERO learn the dog’s personality and needs
  • Create space so another hound can be rescued
  • Share photos and updates that help the dog get adopted
  • Be part of a transformation without a lifetime commitment

Foster FAQ

What fostering can look like.

How long?

Foster length varies by dog, medical needs and adoption timing. HERO can discuss each dog’s likely timeline before placement.

What do I need?

A safe home, patience, communication and the ability to follow the rescue’s care instructions. Dog-specific needs vary.

Can I help another way?

Yes. Transport, sharing posts, fundraising and donating are valuable when fostering is not possible.
